Protein Mutations May Be Cause Of Autism

Scientists are constantly researching as to the cause of autism. Having had no defined leads they are hoping that this new discovery might lead them closer. Scientists beleive that some mutations in two important proteins may be the cause of autism. One protein is said to increase the excitability of nerve cells and the other protein inhibits cell activity.

Infant And Toddler Behavior

Infants who are autistic have little to no social interaction with people and their surroundings. They have no interest in faces and do not make eye contact. Most often the infant will not cry as much as a non-autistic infant and will seem to be quite calm most of the time.
