Fred Scalera is pushing through an autism awareness training course for emergency technicians, police, and firefighters so that they know how to properly handle and child or adult who has this disease. “Although New Jersey is a national leader in providing care and support for those with autism, it is essential that our first-responder network is sufficiently trained to recognize autism and how to handle individuals who have this disorder,” said Assemblyman Scalera (D-Essex), who is a Nutley deputy fire chief.

For years concerned parents have struggled with the decision of whether or not they should give their child vaccinations. Doctors tell them that they are important in order to protect our children from contracting harmful diseases. Yet, there are other people who feel that vaccines are the leading cause of autism.
