McCain Seeks To Raise Funding For Autistic Children

During the Presidential debate between Senator Barack Obama and John McCain many listened as the two spoke their thoughts about the education of the children in the United States. John McCain stated that he would make sure that he increased funding for autism research due to his empathy for the children that are affected by it.

He went on to state his running mate understood how difficult it can be to raise a child with autism in her own personal life. Obviously this shocked many people because Palin’s youngest child does not have autism - but down’s syndrome. The two conditions are very different from each other.

At first it seemed that McCain was not referring to his running mate’s younger child and that he was simply stating that more attention should be brought to the matter. But later in the debate he mentioned that Palin could understand the difficulties “better then most”. However, he chose to approach the matter we hope that either candidate will do what they can for these children and their families.
